📍 Day 1: Broome to Derby

📍 Day 2: Derby to Fitzroy Crossing

Drive along the Great Northern Highway to Fitzroy Crossing. Stop at Geikie Gorge National Park for a river cruise or a walk to spot freshwater crocodiles and birdlife. This area is a great introduction to the Fitzroy River’s power and cultural significance.

📍 Day 3: Fitzroy Crossing to Halls Creek
🛣️ Distance: 290 km | 🚐 Drive Time: 3 hrs
Travel further east to Halls Creek. Along the way, join an Aboriginal-led tour at Mimbi Caves to explore underground limestone systems and hear Dreaming stories. In Halls Creek, visit the China Wall, a natural white quartz formation resembling a mini Great Wall.

📍 Day 4: Halls Creek to Kununurra
🛣️ Distance: 360 km | 🚐 Drive Time:4 hrs
Continue east through vast Kimberley landscapes to Kununurra. If time allows, take a detour to Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungles), a World Heritage site famous for its beehive-shaped domes and gorges.

📍 Day 5: Explore Kununurra & Lake Argyle
Spend a full day around Kununurra. Hike through Mirima National Park (known as the “mini Bungle Bungles”), sample rum at the Hoochery Distillery, or visit local galleries. In the afternoon, head to Lake Argyle for a sunset cruise and a dip in the famous infinity pool overlooking the vast reservoir.

📍 Day 7: Timber Creek to Katherine

Arrive in Katherine, home to Nitmiluk National Park. Take a cruise, canoe, or helicopter ride through Katherine Gorge, or relax in the natural Katherine Hot Springs after a day of exploring.

📍 Day 8: Katherine to Darwin
🛣️ Distance: 320 km | 🚐 Drive Time: 3.5 hrs
On your final stretch, stop at Edith Falls for a swim in the plunge pools. If time permits, detour through Litchfield National Park to see waterfalls, termite mounds, and swimming holes before reaching Darwin. End your journey at the Darwin Waterfront Precinct with dinner overlooking the ocean.
